Just a few steps from Maliblù, you'll find Lido del Faro: restaurant, pool and sun loungers by the sea, run by the same family.
Frequently asked questions
Maliblu Sunset requires two separate buses: first from Capri Piazzetta to Anacapri (Piazza Vittoria), then a second bus to the Punta Carena Lighthouse. The two legs are run by different companies, so you'll need two separate tickets. Total travel time is about 40 minutes including the transfer. A taxi from Anacapri to the lighthouse is faster and more reliable, especially for the return trip after sunset, when bus service drops to roughly one bus per hour. Renting a scooter is also a great option.
After sunset, buses from Punta Carena Lighthouse run roughly once per hour. The buses are small, and on busy days, especially Sundays, there's a real chance of not getting on. The most reliable option is a taxi, ideally booked in advance, particularly on July and August weekends. Sorting out your return trip before you head to the lighthouse removes the guesswork and avoids long waits at the bus stop.
Arrive at least 90 minutes before sunset. The front-row seats facing the water fill up fast, especially on weekends and Sundays when the DJ set draws a bigger crowd. On Sundays, a two-hour lead time is safer. Sunset times shift with the season, roughly 9:00 PM in June down to 7:00 PM in September. Getting there early also lets you swim and have a light lunch before the aperitivo hour, which is the full sequence Maliblu is set up for.
Yes, the lighthouse is about 2.5 km from Anacapri center, mostly downhill, taking 30-40 minutes on foot. The route follows a road with sections that have no sidewalk and no shade in summer. It works well for the trip down, but the uphill return after sunset, in the dark, is less practical. A bus or taxi is a better choice for getting back.
No. Maliblu Sunset is a beach bar with a light lunch menu: salads, bruschetta, sandwiches, and snacks. Cocktails and aperitivi are the main offering, not the kitchen. The menu works for people spending the day by the water who want something between a swim and the sunset aperitivo. Not the right fit if you're looking for a full dinner or a structured dining experience. In this case, an excellent option is the nearby Lido del Faro.
Drinks cost between €10 and €15 euro. For lunch, light dishes like salads, bruschetta, and sandwiches fall in the €8-15 range. Most visitors consider the cost fair when factored against the sunset view and the overall setting.
Yes, there is a limited number of sun loungers available for an additional fee, which includes access to hot showers and restrooms. There's no minimum bar order required to use the solarium, but most visitors combine the chair with lunch and aperitivo over the course of the day. Deck chairs are limited and availability isn't guaranteed on peak days, particularly July and August weekends.
The DJ set runs every Sunday. Music starts in the late afternoon and continues through sunset. The Sunday vibe is louder and more party-oriented than the rest of the week, with bigger crowds and higher volume. If you prefer a quieter, more low-key sunset, weekdays are a better fit.
The Punta Carena Lighthouse area has significant accessibility barriers. Reaching the solarium and waterfront seating involves steps and uneven rocky surfaces. There are no ramps, elevators, or alternative accessible paths. The swimming area is on rocks, not sand. Maliblu Sunset is not suitable for wheelchair users or visitors with significant mobility limitations. If you have specific concerns, contact the bar directly before your visit.
No. Maliblu Sunset is seasonal, generally open from late March or April through late October. Exact opening and closing dates shift each year based on weather and the tourist season. During operating months, the bar is open daily from 11:00 AM until sunset. Outside the season, the bar is closed and the area has nothing else open. Check current hours on the bar's social channels (@maliblu_sunset) or via WhatsApp before making the trip.
Maliblu Sunset operates mostly on a walk-in basis with no reservation required. That said, the front-row sunset seats fill up fast, especially on Sundays and summer weekends. During the sunset hour, table turnover is managed by staff — you may be asked to order to keep your seat. For groups or to check availability, reaching out via WhatsApp ahead of time is a good idea.
There is a gluten-free offering, though limited: gluten-free salads and a selection of sandwiches are available. Please note that the venue is not certified for gluten-free preparation. Vegetarian choices are broader, including salads, bruschetta, and some snacks.
Punta Carena Lighthouse sits on the western tip of Capri, isolated from Anacapri's center. Right next to it you'll find Lido del Faro for swimming and Bar Da Antonio. There are no shops, pharmacies, or other services in the lighthouse area. Bring everything you'll need for the day: sunscreen, water, cash.
